2017 AJSA Trustee Candidate: Teegan Mackey
Teegan Mackey, Texas
Mackey is a Texas native and a senior at Giddings High School. He has been a member of the Texas Junior Simmental Simbrah Association for 10 years and currently serves as the Parliamentarian. He has attended seven Regional Classics and 11 National Classics. Mackey plans to continue a family tradition by following in the footsteps of his three older siblings — all who have served as AJSA Trustees. Mackey would like to see more junior members participate in speaking events, public speaking and sales talk, which help develop independent thinking, confidence, and strengthen presentation skills. Mackey feels that one of the primary duties of the AJSA Trustees is to serve as role models to junior members and continue to improve the standards which have been set by previous trustees. He hopes to increase membership and participation at National Classics by creating more awareness of ice breaker and social events. If elected, he will work to bring back the Skill-a-Thon, a vital contest which teaches participants about everyday, real-life practices.
All AJSA members will vote for two trustees from their region at the AJSA Annual Meeting.
