2018 National Western Stock Show | Breeders Spotlight: Krebs Ranch

Krebs Ranch has been a driving force in the Angus Industry for more than 35 years. They are located in Gordon, Nebraska, in the heart of the Sandhills. Established in 1979, Krebs Ranch has now grown to a cattle operation that runs roughly 800 registered Angus cows. The heart and soul of Krebs Ranch is Eldon and Louisa Krebs who established the ranch 39 years ago, slowly building the ranch into what it is today.

The Krebs’ are in their third generation of angus breeders with their children Ty and Kami. The ranch is truly a family effort, with every member involved. Eldon is the typical hands on rancher. He oversees all of the donors and Denver Carload bulls. His wife, Louisa, is in charge of the the office work. Ty is hands on with the production side of the cattle, handling breeding and calving. He also is in charge of the hay production and trucking of sale cattle. Ty’s wife, Kayleigh, works part time at the hospital as a nurse and is working on becoming a nurse practitioner. She also helps Louisa in the office with Louisa. Eldon and Louisa’s daughter, Kami, is the General Manager at ranch owned, Western Sire Services and she also is in charge of accounting and records at the ranch. Her husband, Jake Scott, is in charge of all sales and marketing at Krebs Ranch, from handling pictures, content, and taking care of customers and questions.
The Angus breed is very important to the Krebs family. Ty and Kami were very actively involved in the National Junior Angus Association as kids. Ty was the NJAS Showmanship winner the year he participated and Kami was a Top 15 finalist, respectively. They each also won premier exhibitor during their junior careers.

Krebs Ranch has been lucky enough to be exhibiting at the NWSS every single year since the farm was established in 1979. They have been very fortunate to have gotten a piece of the angus carload nearly every year. When asked what was significant about the NWSS to Krebs Ranch, Jake Scott stated “Being from the rural part of Nebraska, it provides a revenue and showcase for our genetics to promote to a larger market of cattlemen.” This year they will be exhibiting on the Hill and in the yards.
The Krebs family is looking forward their third decade in the Angus industry, and they hope to continue to make an impact on not only the Angus breed but the entire beef industry with their proven genetics.
Krebs Ranch has an upcoming sale on February 15, 2018. In the 38th Annual Bull Sale, they will be offering approximately 275 Angus and Sim-Angus bulls.
