A Sweet Family Tradition

From Guest Blogger; The Jensen Family
While the 2014 JNHE is in the record books and we have made the 1221 mile trip home with no troubles.
Many memories where made and goals accomplished. From the trip out truck conversation’s being team marketing presentations and quiz bowl questions to the trip home being who met new friends and which heifer looked good as well as how great the whole week was in PA. Our family decided early on to take two trailer loads of cattle as it was Brady’s last year and he had 8 bred and owned heifers. Brady reached his goal being named Jr. Premier Breeder and Exhibitor at his last Jr Nationals to show at as well as being named Chairman of the Jr. Board.
We are very proud of his accomplishments over the years at Jr. Nationals and topping it all off with numerous class winners and 3 reserve divisions. On the last morning getting ready to show and do her queen duties Brooke made the comment the week had gone by so fast. She truly enjoyed meeting all the state queens and young girls who look up to her as a role model. The Princess Tea she hosted was a huge success to encourage young girls to run for queen.
Brooke’s highlight would have been making the top 10 senior finals showmanship and showing the Reserve Cow/calf Champion. Many runs were made back and forth to change from Brooke’s queen outfit to show clothes but we had it down by the end of the week. We took a neighbor boy, Wyatt Durst to his first JNHE and he came home with a 2nd place in judging, 2nd in class, a reserve division heifer and made the semifinals in showmanship.
Wyatt was more than thrilled with the whole Jr. National experience and is already talking about next year’s show in Grand Island. The trip to PA was complete for Ben as he took a side trip to Hersey Museum with Dad and Wyatt and Gettysburg Bus tour with the group as Ben can never get enough history. We can’t forget the dedication Jason May gave to us in preparation for this JNHE and so proud of his work on the Jr. Board as well as topping it all of by winning two classes with his Cow/Calf entry. Our family was blessed with all the support we had for this trip and look forward to seeing you all in Grand Island next summer which happens to be only 110 miles from home.
It truly was a Sweet Family tradition for the Jensen Family.

Thank you!

National Queen Brooke Jensen would like to say a big thank you to all the Hereford juniors and the mentor program participants who brought pop tops to support the Ronald McDonald House.
This is just a small sample of the support we are sending to the House in PA.
