How long have you been showing?
Jaxon – 5 years
Sammi – 10 years, since I was 6 years old.
How many years have you shown at NWSS?
Jaxon – 5 years
Sammi – 8 years
What is one thing about the Shorthorn breed you enjoy the most?
Jaxon – the HAIR!
Sammi – Their sweet dispositions!
If you had to pick another breed to show what would it be and why?
Jaxon – I wouldn’t pick another breed, but I do love to show steers.
Sammi – I have no idea, I think it goes to show that I’m a Shorthorn girl at heart.
What is your favorite Sullivan Supply product and why?
Jaxon – the double-sided combs
Sammi – The showstick because how else are you supposed to get your heifer stuck?
What is your favorite thing about the NWSS?
Jaxon – Display Bulls, so cool!
Sammi – The shopping.
Do you have any advice for juniors that are just starting to show?
Jaxon – My advice for Denver is to dress warm, but always just try your best
Sammi – Never give up and practice, practice, practice
What does showing at the NWSS mean to you?
Jaxon – Waiting in line all day to set up at midnight!
Sammi – It means wearing 100 layers in attempt to stay warm, walking up the hill, all while being surrounded by incredible people.
Who are your Role Models?
Jaxon – Besides my parents, Cory Altena and Uncle Scooter (Scott Bush)
Sammi – Most definitely my amazing parents.
What is your Favorite Quote?
Jaxon – “Be aware of your surroundings” – Cory Altena
