  • What does The Showtimes enjoy most at National Western?
  • Brian- The Market Steers and Display Bulls.  For me, there is not a better show at the National Western than the Market Steers.  I love capturing the moments in the barn the night before the show when everyone’s hopes are high.  It’s a different level of competition.  For the Showtimes, the Herd Sire Displays are definitely at the top of the list.  From designing bull banners to walking through the yards, there is nothing else like it.  There is something really special about the history of the Stock Show.  From the historical stadium arena to the famous yards.
Laurie- I would have to say the display bulls and working the market steer show ring are my favorites.  The mass quantity of people, customers and friends that come for the bulls is unlike anywhere else.  Being able to give back and work with the kids during the steer show is very rewarding to me.
Lisa – Without question it is being able to see everybody that comes to the show to exhibit, market their livestock, or simply take in the various sales, shows and displays.  From start to finish, there is no other livestock show that we cover where we see so many people in one place.  We are very fortunate to have Denver in our backyard to be able to cover the show in its entirety.  It is important for us to capture “Showtimes Moments” and promote the various aspects of the livestock industry.

    • What all will you be covering at NWSS?
    • The Showtimes will be covering all aspects of Denver.  From breeding cattle and market shows on the hill, to Display Bulls, sales, and numerous other shows and displays in the Yards, we will be there.

      • What do you enjoy most about your work within this industry?
      • Brian- I always try to cover the shows the way I would have liked to have been covered when I showed. It is important to have photos and videos of our readers when they win a big show like the National Western. I like to really push to see what we are capable of with graphics and try a different approach than what has previously been done.
Laurie- Being able to meet people from across the country and be a part of their passion and livelihood means a lot to me.  The people we meet and work with are not only our customers, but our friends.
Lisa- The people…there is no other industry that is founded on family that requires and teaches work ethic and competition.  The people involved in the livestock industry have more savvy than you will find anywhere else.  It is also an industry that, as a whole, has a strong faith, and allows us to tie that into our publication.

        • You have set yourself apart as a great place for people to go for all things stock show, why is it important for you to provide this service for this industry?

All three of us grew up in the livestock industry showing at the state, regional and national level.  When we started The Showtimes, we were 20, 16 and 15 years old and still showing in the Junior Shows.  Everything we do as The Showtimes is driven by what we experienced and like as showmen and people actively involved within the livestock industry.  We like to give back to an industry that means a lot to us.

        • Anything in particular readers should look forward to in the coming months?

Right now we are really looking forward to hosting the Blackout Jackpot 3 this Spring. The steer and heifer jackpot show will be held with the Green and Gold Showdown in Loveland, Colorado at the Ranch on March 20-22, 2015. After Denver, we start working on our March/April 2015 Sire Edition.

      • What is your favorite Sullivan Supply product?

Brian- Without question, Revive (the navy pinstriped cans from when I showed). I used it every day when I was getting steers ready for a big show.
Laurie- I am a big fan of the custom black and white Showtimes smart combs that we use as giveaways.
Lisa- I like the curtain hooks.  We go through a lot of them with The Showtimes!  ☺
